PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE CHECKS AND SERVICE (PMCS) INTRODUCTION
When performing a PMCS or simple routine checks, observe all WARNINGS listed in the WARNING SUMMARY
and throughout the manual.
Preventive maintenance is the systematic care, servicing, and inspection of equipment to prevent the occurrence
of problems, to reduce downtime, and to maintain equipment in serviceable condition. To ensure that the equip-
ment is always ready for a mission, perform the scheduled Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS)
This section lists the required Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services for the Engine Shop. Always keep
in mind the Warnings listed in the WARNING SUMMARY. To ensure that the Engine Shop is ready for operation
at all times, it must be inspected systematically so defects may be discovered and corrected before they result
in serious damage of system failure. The necessary preventive maintenance checks and services that are to be
performed by operator personnel listed and described in WP 0033 00.
During operation if a deiciency is noted stop operation to prevent damage to equipment.
Defects, deiciencies and shortcomings together with the corrective action will be recorded on
DA Form 2404 or DA Form 5988-E and submitted to the Maintenance Ofice.
Routine maintenance like cleaning, washing, corrosion control, storage and shipping etc., are not listed as part
of the PMCS. These tasks should be performed when they are needed.
Determining PMCS Intervals
Operator PMCS for the Engine Shop should be performed on time intervals as indicated in WP 0033 00.
Deiciencies that cannot be corrected must be reported on DA Form 2404 or DA Form 5988-E to maintenance
personnel. Records and reports of preventive maintenance must be iled and maintained IAW DA PAM 750-8.

The item numbers are listed sequentially and indicate the minimum requirements for the checks and services.
