Engine Oil Consumption Excessive.
Check for worn or damaged valves, guides, stem and seals,
Step 1.
If valves, guides, stems, or seals are damaged or worn, replace as
required (para. 12-4).
If valves, guides, stems, or seals are not damaged, proceed to step
2.
Check for sticking oil pump pressure relief valve.
Step 2.
If valve is sticking, clean or replace valve (para. 10-4 ).
If valve is not sticking, proceed to step 3.
Check for worn or broken piston rings.
Step 3.
If piston rings are broken or worn, replace rings (para. 12-10).
If piston rings are not broken or worn, proceed to step 4.
Check for leaking oil seals.
Step 4.
If oil seals are leaking, replace seals (para. 12-10).
If seals are not leaking check for and unclog oil return passages.
10.
Low Engine Oil Pressure.
Check for sticking oil pump pressure valve,
Step 1.
If oil pump pressure valve is sticking, clean or replace as required
If valve is not sticking, proceed to step 2.
Check for damaged oil pump.
Step 2.
If oil pump is damaged, repair or replace as needed (para. 10-4).
If oil pump is not damaged, proceed to step 3.
