If piston rings are not broken or worn, proceed to step 4.
Check for leaking oil seals.

If oil seals are leaking, replace seals (para. 12-10).
If seals are not leaking check for and unclog oil return passages.

Low Engine Oil Pressure.
Check for sticking oil pump pressure valve,

If oil pump pressure valve is sticking, clean or replace as required
If valve is not sticking, proceed to step 2.
Check for damaged oil pump.
