MAINTENANCE OF BODY COMPONENTS
DOORS AND HINGES.
a.
General. The side and rear doors should not be removed unless
absolutely necessary. In most cases, repairs can be made with the
doors installed.
b.
Removal . Support the door to prevent damage prior to removing
hardware. Remove the doors as illustrated by figures 15-1 and
15-2.
c.
Cleaning, Inspection, and Repair.
(1) Clean doors with approved cleaning solvent and dry thoroughly.
(2) Inspect doors for cracks, breaks, dust, rust, and other damage
or defects,
(3) Break rivets if necessary to make repairs. Straighten bends,
weld cracks and breaks. Replace defective hinges.
